Plishing Challenge Still Underway (Page 45)

When’s the last time you picked up your fishing rod? If you’re looking to relax on the water while giving back to nature, the South Carolina Wildlife Federation (SCWF) invites you to take part in their annual Plishing Challenge this summer.

Plishing combines the Swedish phrase “plocka upp” (meaning “pick up”) with fishing. The challenge encourages participants to enjoy catch-and-release fishing while also cleaning up litter from local waterways.

It’s simple, fun, and open to all ages. Once registered, participants can submit photos of each fish caught and each bag of litter collected through the event app. No measuring or weighing required—just snap a picture, log it, and enjoy the outdoors.

Each month, prizes including gift cards, apparel, and fishing gear will be awarded to point leaders in fish and litter categories, as well as randomly selected winners.

At the end of August, three grand prizes will be awarded:

  • Overall Fish Winner – $500 gift card to Palmetto State Armory

  • Overall Litter Collection Winner – $500 gift card to Palmetto State Armory

  • Randomly Selected Winner – $500 gift card to Palmetto State Armory

Thanks to Palmetto State Armory, the first 200 people to register can join the challenge for free.

The Plishing Challenge runs through August 31 and is sponsored by Palmetto Pride, AFTCO, Local Boy Outfitters, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and Angling Women.

For more information or to register, visit www.scwf.org/plishing.
