The Midlands Striper Club held its monthly Lake Murray tournament out of Acapulco, SC on Jan. 20.

Despite freezing temperatures all day and tough fishing conditions, 15 teams participated in the event bringing 22 striped bass to the scales weighing a total of 169.72 lbs. with a 7.71-pound average and eight teams were able to bring a full two fish creel.

Team Knot Right

Finishing in first place with a total weight of 19.85 lbs. was Team Knot Right captained by Allen Rodgers. Team Knot Right also won the Team Wildman Big Fish Award sponsored by the Nichols Store with a 9.87-pound striper.

Finishing in second place with a total weight of 17.88 pounds was Team Well Hung captained by Jason Tarlton, along with Mike Harley and Noah Blankenship.

Finishing in third place with a total weight of 17.16 lbs. was Team Main Street Mafia captained by Aaron Hatfield, along with Brent Ricard and David Richardson.

Lady Angler Award went to Liz Sineath from Team Stone Age.

Youth Angler Award went to Kendal Eubanks from Team Sea-n-Stripes

Middle of the Road in seventh place went to Team Reel Guys with 15.19 lbs.

Smallest creel went to Team Stone Age with a total weight of 4.30 lbs.

The Synergy eTherapy Live Release Award and TWT went to Team Knot Right.

MSC’s next monthly meeting is the Annual State of the Lake scheduled for Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Flight Deck in Lexington.
