Columbia Children’s Theatre (CCT) is calling on the community for support during a critical time. The unexpected closure of Richland Mall last year left CCT without a home, forcing the organization into a challenging and costly relocation process. Already dealing with the lingering financial impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the transition has placed the beloved theatre in a precarious position.

To continue its mission of providing live theatre experiences for young audiences and families, CCT must raise $50,000 by January 1, 2025.

Despite these challenges, CCT remains committed to its programming. All scheduled ticketed performances, classes, and field trips will continue as planned. The immediate fundraising goal is to complete its 20th season while building a sustainable future.

“Our community has been the heart of Columbia Children’s Theatre for nearly 20 years, and we’re deeply grateful for the unwavering support we’ve received from families, educators, and local businesses,” said Jerry Stevenson, Artistic Director of CCT. “Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of transforming the lives of tens of thousands of young people through the magic of theatre. With your continued support, we’re committed to reaching even more children and families in the years ahead.”

How to Support CCT

There are three key ways the community can help CCT reach its fundraising goal. More details about each option are available at columbiachildrenstheatre.com/donate:

  1. Make a Gift: Every contribution, large or small, brings the organization closer to its $50,000 goal.

  2. Sponsorship Opportunities: Season sponsorships are available for businesses and individuals seeking to support the theatre.

  3. Playbill Advertising: Businesses and individuals can place an ad in CCT’s playbills, supporting the theatre while gaining community visibility.

Columbia Children’s Theatre is a professional resident theatre company dedicated to providing live theatre experiences for families and young audiences. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, CCT serves the Midlands region through its Mainstage and YouTheatre productions, educational programs, and community residencies.

CCT’s work is supported by the City of West Columbia, the South Carolina Arts Commission (which receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts), BlueCross BlueShield, and Martha and Mike Jones.
