Governor Henry McMaster has proclaimed January 26 – February 1 as School Choice Week in South Carolina, coinciding with the 15th annual National School Choice Week celebration. The week highlights the importance of providing families with accessible and diverse education options to meet the unique needs of their children.

The proclamation emphasizes that every child deserves access to high-quality education and recognizes its vital role in student success and economic growth in South Carolina. It celebrates the variety of educational opportunities available in the state, including public, private, and charter schools, as well as homeschooling.

This year, more than 400 events will take place across South Carolina during School Choice Week, including a special celebration and school fair at the state capitol in Columbia. These events aim to foster awareness, inspire families to explore educational options, and celebrate the achievements of schools and students.

“South Carolina families and educators are passionate about providing children with the best possible educational opportunities, and School Choice Week serves as an ideal moment to raise awareness about these options,” said Andrew Campanella, president and CEO of the National School Choice Awareness Foundation.

On a national scale, over 27,000 events will celebrate the benefits of educational variety, which not only supports economic growth but also enhances community vibrancy.
