The “tour of champions” continues this week for Ridge View football.

After a close battle with defending Class 5A Division II champion Northwestern, the Blazers head to Irmo to visit 3-time defending Division I champion Dutch Fork.

This is WACH 57’s Sonic Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week. It will air on Channel 1250 on Spectrum and streamed at www.wach.com.

The Silver Foxes own winning streaks of 22 overall and 12 at home. They are also coming off a 54-21 win over Spartanburg in which they scored 50 or more points for the 50th time since 2016.

Making Ridge View’s task more daunting will be the availability of starting quarterback Tre Howard. The junior suffered a foot injury against the Trojans and his status was unavailable at press time.

Ashton Chapman did step up for the Blazers at quarterback. He completed 11-17 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown. Ridge View also got an interception return TD from D’Juan Franklin.

Ridge View trails Dutch Fork 6-5 in head-to-head meetings. It does have the distinction as having handed the Silver Foxes two of its three in-state road losses since 2015.

The duo of running back Angelo Rios and quarterback Carrington Carter lifted the Redhawks to their first win of the season.

Rios rushed for four touchdowns and Carter threw for three scores for the Redhawks. It was the first win for head coach Stephen Burris.

Up next is an All-Northeast matchup with Richland Northeast. The Cavaliers (0-2) are still seeking their first Post-Will Wilson victory after the overtime loss to Spring Valley in Week 0 and 35-13 setback to Crestwood last Friday.
