Stamp collectors and history enthusiasts alike are invited to attend the Columbia Philatelic Society’s fall/winter stamp show, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 14, in West Columbia.
The show will be held at the Tri-City Leisure Center, located at 485 Brooks Avenue, the same venue used for the society’s previous show. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Fourteen vendors will be on site offering stamps, postcards, and stamp-collecting supplies. Dealers will also be available to appraise collections and answer questions about philately. Members of the Columbia Philatelic Society will be present throughout the show to introduce the hobby to interested children and teenagers.
Admission and parking are free, and attendees can enter an hourly raffle for a $10 gift certificate redeemable with any vendor during the show.
In addition to dealer booths, at least four society members will display personal stamp collections. Organizers say the exhibits are distinctive and reflect years of careful research and dedication.
Society members note that stamp collecting offers a unique way to explore history. From major historical events to influential leaders, entertainers, inventors, and medical breakthroughs, stamps commemorate a wide range of people and moments. Collectors say stamps can also enhance school projects by adding visual and historical context.
With new stamps issued every year, organizers say the hobby remains relevant and accessible, making now an ideal time for newcomers to begin collecting.
