On July 15 at 10 am Project Unity USA is hosting Corvettes United on a cruise with 1,000 Corvettes, to the South Carolina Statehouse for a rally to speak out against gun violence.
South Carolina was ranked 8th in the country in gun deaths as of 2019. In 2020, 964 people were murdered and 2,358 were wounded by guns in South Carolina, and we were ranked the 6th-highest in the country in gun violence. Numbers for 2021 and 2022 are not readily available a the time of this press release.
One thousand Corvettes cruising to and parking in front and around the Statehouse is intended to draw people from all over South Carolina and surrounding states.
Corvettes United is a collective of Corvette owners and clubs who care about gun violence everywhere.
The cruise will begin at 421 Bush River Road on July 15 at 9:15 am. It will be a police-escorted cruise to the Statehouse, where the streets around the Statehouse will be closed off for Corvette parking only. Speakers for this event are Mayor Daniel Rickerman- City of Columbia, Richland County Sheriff- Leon Lott, and Bruce Trezevant – Founder/CEO of Project Unity USA. After the rally, the Corvettes will take another police-escorted cruise back to 421 Bush River Road (Dutch Square) where there will be an all-Corvette car show and cruise in.
Corvette owners and clubs are invited to sign up to be on the cruise, as vendors, sponsors and volunteers.
