Get ready for a week filled with the enchanting sounds of music as Music in My Neighborhood, a new community program by the South Carolina Philharmonic, kicks off on April 8th. This exciting initiative brings a series of free ensemble performances, educational programs, and unique collaborations to different neighborhoods in the Midlands each year.
The inaugural Music in My Neighborhood program will take place in Irmo from April 8th to April 13th, featuring a diverse lineup of events. The highlight of the week will be a free full-orchestra concert at the Irmo Amphitheatre on April 13th at 3 pm.
Thanks to the generous support of the Connected Communities Grant from Central Carolina Community Foundation and funding from the South Carolina Arts Commission, this program aims to provide inclusive and accessible live music experiences for all.
Susan Cafferty, the Education and Community Outreach Director, emphasized the importance of reaching diverse audiences and supporting music education. Throughout the week, SC Phil musicians will visit schools, perform, and engage with students of all ages, enriching their educational experience and fostering a love for music.
