Guests who are neurodiverse, autistic or have other disabilities are invited to experience the South Carolina State Museum at their own pace.
The program provides free access for families of children, teenagers, young adults and adults who would benefit from a quieter, sensory-friendly and disability-adapted experience at the museum.
During this event, guests may meet a character from The Very Hungry Caterpillar for a book reading and experience a sensory-friendly showing in the museum’s planetarium.
An ASL Interpreter will be available during the 9:30 am story time, 9:45 am sensory show and 10:30 am museum highlights tour. ASL interpretation is sponsored by Colonial Life and provided by certified interpreters through the SC School for the Deaf and Blind.
General admission to Accessibility Mornings is free for all participants, online registration is highly recommended.
