One of the best golf instruction tools you already own is your iPhone.

Ask someone to take photos or videos of your swing while you’re on the golf course or practice range. Record your swing using the slow-motion setting so you can review it frame by frame. You’ll often notice things that are impossible to feel while you’re swinging.

Take still photos from both face-on and down-the-line angles to check your setup, including ball position, alignment, posture and club position. You may discover simple setup mistakes that can be corrected before you even make a swing.

Remember, what you feel you’re doing and what you’re actually doing are often two different things. Since you can’t watch yourself during the swing, the camera provides honest feedback.

Use your smartphone for more than just calls and texts—it can become one of the most valuable tools for improving your golf game.
