The SCISA boys soccer dynasty in Northeast Columbia added another state title to its storied program.

Cardinal Newman shut out host school Hammond 4-0 to win the Class 4 A title Saturday. It was the Cardinals’ fifth straight under longtime head coach Will Eudy and the first time going undefeated in school history.

Cardinal Newman finished with a 19-0-1 record with wins over S.C. High School League state finalist Powdersville, Riverside, Christ Church and Chapin.

The number “three” was prominent in the state final, which was originally scheduled to take place at Cardinal Newman. It was not only the third win this season over the Skyhawks, but also saw senior Grayson White post a ‘hat trick’ with three goals.

It was White’s 33rd goal of the season.

Owen Thompson accounted for the Cardinals’ other goal and goalkeepers Ben Pickren and defenders Tristan Berzins and Luke Stanek helped preserve Cardinal Newman’s 11th shutout of the season.
