Spring Break could produce a NIKE Palmetto Cup championship for the Blythewood boys’ soccer team.

A 3-0 over Ben Lippen Tuesday at Saluda Shoals Park in Irmo gave the Bengals a points lead over Legion Collegiate and host school Gray Collegiate. Daulton Purcell scored twice and goalkeeper Tyler Skiff had three saves.

Blythewood’s Joshua Lewis with the shot attempt against Ben Lippen. Cole Brunecz followed up with the goal.

Blythewood opened the Cup with a scoreless tie against Legion Collegiate, who defeated Gray Collegiate 2-1 on Tuesday. The remaining boys schedule Wednesday featured four games:

Ben Lippen vs. Gray – 2 p.m.

Hammond School vs. Legion Collegiate 4 p.m.

Blythewood vs. Woodland 4 p.m.

The Bengals (13-3-1, 8-1) have three Region 5-5A matches after Spring Break. Meanwhile, the top-ranked Lady Bengals (13-1-1, 9-0) are idle this week.
