Get ready for a heartwarming holiday performance as “A Dickens of a Christmas” takes the stage at Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor on Sunday, December 15, at 4 p.m. This unique production, presented as a classic Christmas radio show, features three actors portraying 50 characters, accompanied by the legendary pianist Ed Mc Cravey.

The show, created by Kate Brighton, Artistic Director of the Absolute Theatre Company, is part of the Old Blue Church Radio Show series, which began in 2018 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, affectionately known as “The Old Blue Church.” The cast, known as the Old Blue Church Radio Players, delivers humor, heart, and nostalgia through beloved Christmas stories, including Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales, and original works like The Lost Fruitcake and My Christmas Bike, Blue Beauty.

Dan Fleker, reprising his role as Scrooge, leads the cast. Fleker, an attorney by day, has been part of Brighton’s productions since 2004. Kyle Mayson, a Winthrop musical theater graduate and internet influencer with over 750,000 followers, brings his comedic talent and voice skills to the show.

Pianist Ed Mc Cravey, known for his long musical career, adds a nostalgic touch. A veteran of the Clemson Tiger Band and leader of “Dancetimers” for two decades, Mc Cravey has a rich history with Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor, often playing into the early hours after gigs.

Kate Brighton, celebrating 50 years in theater, will also join the cast onstage.
