The “victory tour” continues for Westwood boys’ basketball coach Trent Robinson.

On Friday, he was named the state Boys Basketball Coach of the Year by the S.C. Athletics Coaches Association.

“Honored and grateful to win such a prestigious award,” Robinson said on social media. “To God the Glory for it all! Placing me around great school community, students , parents, and Admin staff. Forever grateful.”

The former College of Charleston guard led the Redwolves to a 26-3 record and the Class 5A Division II title. It was the school’s first state championship.

Westwood avenged its December loss to defending Division II champion Greenville in the state title game. It also split the two meetings against 3-time Class 5A Division I champion Ridge View and Sumter.

In addition, the Redwolves had two All-State selections in guards D’Marcus Thomas and Jayden Crews. Both also participated in the SCBCA North-South All-Star game where Crews claimed team MVP honors for the South team.
