Blythewood has apparently managed to bring back a former head baseball coach to lead the program once again.
Pending Richland School Board Two final approval, Dolan Crolley is returning to the Bengals. He leaves White Knoll High School, where he spent the past two seasons.
Ironically, he replaces the man who succeeded him at Blythewood. Travis Poole left the program after three seasons to take over at Class 4A champion A.C. Flora.
During Crolley’s first stint, he served as interim head coach after Banks Faulkner took a job at Newberry. Crolley went on to lead the Bengals to the 2023 Class 5A final where it lost to River Bluff.
After a season as a Lugoff-Elgin assistant coach, Crolley took over the White Knoll program in 2024. He led the Timberwolves to two straight playoff appearances and their 5-5 record in the ultracompetitive Region IV-5A this past season was the team’s best showing in a decade.
Blythewood will now compete in the revamped Region IV-5A with Gray Collegiate, Ridge View, Spring Valley and Sumter.
