Seventeen new full-time firefighters have officially joined the Columbia-Richland Fire Department (CRFD) after completing weeks of tough training at the department’s fire academy.
During a special graduation ceremony held in Columbia, Fire Chief Aubrey D. Jenkins administered the oath of office to the recruits from CRFD Recruit Class 2024-02. After taking the oath, each new firefighter proudly received their badge from Chief Jenkins.
“This is a proud moment for these recruits and for our department,” Chief Jenkins said. “They’ve worked hard, shown great dedication, and are ready to serve our community.”
The recruits underwent intensive training that covered firefighting techniques, emergency medical response, and rescue operations. Now fully certified, they will be assigned to fire stations across the Columbia-Richland area.
The CRFD serves communities throughout Columbia and Richland County, responding to fires, medical emergencies, and other urgent situations. The department regularly recruits and trains new firefighters to maintain its high standard of public safety.
