On November 17 the Westwood High School JROTC Drill Team competed in the Greater Midlands League Championship Drill Meet at Lower Richland High School.

The meet consisted of ten schools from the surrounding Columbia area. Out of the 11 events in this drill competition, Westwood won ten trophies. For the platoon events, they placed first overall for regulation with arms commanded by c/LTC Fionna Guerra and second overall for regulation without arms commanded by c/CSM Jacqueline Lara.

For the squad events, the Redhawks placed second overall for regulation with arms commanded by c/CPT Isaiah Francis and second overall all for regulation without arms commanded by c/CPT Shelley Nevins. In the Color Guard competition, they finished second overall commanded by c/MAJ Megan Layton.

For the exhibition routines, the Redhawk Battalion placed third overall with arms commanded by c/CPT Isaiah Francis and second overall for without arms commanded by c/CPT Shelley Nevins. In the individual exhibition with arms, they placed third overall performed by c/CPT Isaiah Francis. In knockout with arms, the following cadets finished in the top 10 competing against about 125 other cadets: c/1LT Colin Golden, c/2LT Aaron McEachern, c/SGT Precious Terrell, and c/1SG Monterreus Brown. Finally, in armed inspection, the Redhawks placed second overall commanded by c/LTC Fionna Guerra. For the meet’s overall finishing, the Westwood High School Redhawk Battalion won second place.
