The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET) received two prestigious awards at the Live United Awards hosted by United Way of the Midlands at Central Energy.

Angela Jacobs, leading The COMET’s United Way Campaign efforts, achieved remarkable success in her first year as campaign director. Jacobs was not only nominated for Campaign Director of the Year but also spearheaded efforts that surpassed the initial $3500 goal by an additional $1,000 through special events and employee payroll deductions.

Under Jacobs’ leadership, The COMET was honored with the Best in Class Award, recognizing outstanding performance in percent participation, employee per capita gift, and increase in total giving. Additionally, The COMET was awarded the Gold Award, reserved for companies with an employee per capita gift ranging from $150 to $399.

Maurice Pearl, Executive Director/CEO of The COMET, expressed gratitude for the partnership with United Way of the Midlands and commended Jacobs for her dedication and hard work in leading the team to achieve these remarkable results. He emphasized The COMET’s commitment to being good community stewards and expressed pride in accepting these honors.

The fundraising efforts, which included special events and direct contributions, reflect The COMET’s dedication to making a positive impact in the community.
