A street naming ceremony honoring the late Rev. Tryon Eichelberger, Sr. of Columbia will be held August 2 at 1 pm. The official street sign will be unveiled by the Eichelberger family.

The ceremony will be at the corner of Farrow Road and Isaac Street in the Greenview community. It marks a decade since the murder of Eichelberger, who was the victim of a home invasion and beating in 2009. Two months later in July, the Reverend died from injuries sustained in the attack.

Eichelberger was a long time pastor, community leader, and gospel radio personality who was well-liked and respected by all who knew him.

During their meeting July 16 Columbia City Council presented a replica of the street sign designating Rev. Tryon Eichelberger Way to the Eichelberger family.
