Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott helped launch the Life Engagements Town Hall series at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community in West Columbia, Wednesday, May 3.

“The Sheriff did a fantastic job of sharing safety tips with seniors,” said Eli Wishart, a retired U.S. Army Special Forces colonel, former two-star commander of the S.C. State Guard, and a resident of Still Hopes. “He spoke in a way that was fun and entertaining, and he engaged everyone in attendance.”

According to Wishart, the audience numbered between 100 and 150 attendees. Lott spoke for about one-half hour, and his remarks were followed by a Q&A session.

“Senior citizens are the heart of our community,” said Lott. “They are one of our most precious resources, and we have a responsibility to embrace them as such: serving, providing for, and protecting them in every way possible.”
