This Friday, September 2, from 6 to 9 pm, Rob Shaw Framing and Gallery, 324 State Street in West Columbia, will host a reception launching a month-long exhibit and sale of works by artist Rebecca Horne.
An international-award-winning, self-taught abstract artist based in West Columbia, Horne is inspired by the beauty of color and the movement of paint. Though she has experimented with a variety of media in her professional career, her focus since 2018 has been mixed media and fluid acrylics.
Earlier this year, Horne’s work appeared in the juried Piccolo Spoleto exhibit and in the Vernum Ultimum Gallery international show. Her work has also been included in the Park Circle Gallery in North Charleston, the Palmetto Fine Art Gallery in Chapin, and the Dalton Gallery in Rock Hill.
Her numerous awards in juried shows include first place and honorable mention in the 2021 Crooked Creek Art League Still Hopes Exhibition, an honorable mention in the 2021 Fusion.Art Women Artists International Online Juried Art Exhibition, and two awards—the Helen Mendel Merit Award and a State Fair Purchase Award—in the 2019 SC State Fair Fine Art competition. In 2020, Horne was recognized by Destig Magazine as one of the top 20 artists of the year.
Horne’s works will be available for viewing and purchase through September 30.
