COLUMBIA – State and local officials gathered June 18 to celebrate the grand opening of The Ritedose Corporation’s new 225,000-square-foot distribution and logistics center at Performance Park.

Among those in attendance was Richland County Council Chairwoman Jesica Mackey (District 9), who praised the project as a major win for the region’s growing life sciences sector.

The new facility represents an $81 million investment and is expected to create 100 new jobs. In addition to serving as a distribution hub, the center includes an $11 million state-of-the-art laboratory that will help smaller pharmaceutical companies develop therapeutic drugs.

“This opening strengthens Columbia’s position as a hub for innovation in life sciences,” said Mackey. “We’re excited to see the opportunities this facility brings for our workforce and economy.”
