Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC), Ranking Member of the Middle East, North Africa and Global Counterterrorism Subcommittee, and other members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, met with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) today to discuss the Iranian nuclear program and other IAEA operations.
As stated on October 19, 2021, Financial Times and reiterated in today’s meeting, the Director-General said “Iran was “‘within a few months’” of having enough material for a nuclear weapon…”
Mr. Grossi has also said in the past, we cannot put the genie back in the bottle. Iran’s nuclear program has grown more sophisticated and continues to do so. For this reason, I call upon the Administration to abandon its pursuit of a return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and instead focus on putting in place strong, verifiable restrictions that will permanently block Iran’s path to a bomb.
Congressman Wilson says, “I remain alarmed by the actions of this predatory government, and along with the Committee, will continue to work with the IAEA to monitor this situation.”
