MUSC Health leaders, community partners and local officials gathered February 3 to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new primary care medical office building at 5213 Trenholm Road in the heart of Forest Acres.
The 4,500-square-foot facility will expand access to care in one of Columbia’s most established neighborhoods.
The practice will offer preventive care, chronic disease management and coordinated specialty referrals.
“This new primary care office represents our commitment to growing alongside the communities we serve,” said Mac Leppard, M.D., of MUSC Health in the Midlands. “By expanding into Forest Acres, we’re making it easier for patients and families to access trusted, high-quality care close to home while staying connected to the full resources of MUSC Health.”
The project is being developed in partnership with Cason Development and Mimms Contracting. Once complete, the new facility will enhance primary care capacity in the area and strengthen MUSC Health’s regional network of community-based practices.
Construction is now underway, and the building is slated for completion this fall.
