Dentsville Remembered is a historical biographical account of Dentsville, SC from it’s beginnings in the 1800s through 1978. The book was compiled by Alton Rabon, who grew up in Dentsville and wanted to share what it was like to live there and why so many people felt it was a special place.

Dentsville Remembered is well documented and extremely factual in its interpretations of the decades of a small town in rural South Carolina.

Filled with photographs and maps depicting the lives of local leaders, clergy, school teachers and the like Dentsville Remembered focuses on industry in the area and touches on other local municipalities such as Blythewood, Pontiac and Killian and their association with Dentsville.

The book is easy to read and contains hundreds of photos of news accounts, family homes and diagrams all documenting areas of importance to the Dentsville area.

Alton dedicated the book to his parents, Raeford and Lola along with his sister, Kimberly, and brother Darron. Other mentions were to his friends that he grew up with on Moonglo Circle.

The cost of the book is $25 and a shipping fee of $5. Email [email protected] or to the mailing address P.O. Box 57 State Park, SC 29147.

Alton is working on his next book titled “Destiny” which is the story of the 1973 season of Spring Valley High School’s first State Championship in football. This upcoming season commemorates the 50th anniversary. I’ve been in contact with Spring Valley AD John Combs about a possible ceremony on Oct. 13 to recognize the 50th anniversary.
