Jukebox Memories for Alzheimer’s is now rescheduled for next year as public health officials warn of a second and third wave of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases around the country. The event was originally scheduled for March 27, 2020 at Seawell’s located at 1125 Rosewood Drive in Columbia and then rescheduled for November 20. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, organizers have rescheduled the event for March 2021. Officials have not set a date at this time.
“It’s been an honor to host this event for the past seven years, but this year we wanted to adhere to safety guidelines set by health officials. Each year, our event gets bigger and bigger and we don’t want to put the health of our guests in jeopardy,” said Marsha Clayman, organizer of Jukebox Memories for Alzheimer’s. “As a person who works in the healthcare industry, the health and well-being of our guests is of the utmost importance,” she added.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 92,000 South Carolinians are living with the disease. Each year, proceeds from the seventh annual lip sync battle competition are donated to the nonprofit as it works toward providing education, support and research that can lead to treatment, prevention and a cure.
All previously purchased tickets are valid for the new date.
