The Columbia-Richland Fire Department (CRFD) promoted 45 staff members to new ranks of leadership at the end of 2022 and through the first quarter of 2023. During that time, 21 staff moved up to the rank of senior firefighter, 15 became engineers, four were named fire captains and three made it to the rank of battalion chief. The department also promoted one new training officer and a new divisional chief to oversee first shift. Many of the honorees were recognized during a pinning ceremony March 30 at CRFD headquarters.
