On October 31 Richland County held a celebratory groundbreaking for a $4.3 million Transportation Penny project along Alpine Road.
It will build a sidewalk connecting S.C. Highway 12 (Percival Road) with U.S. Highway 1 (Two Notch Road).
The new sidewalk will span more than two miles, offering safer travel for pedestrians to nearby schools and businesses between Alpine and Two Notch roads. Crews will also resurface Alpine Road, which will connect with the Polo Road Shared-Use Path. The project is expected to wrap up in early 2024.
