William Starrett and Columbia City Ballet are bringing holiday magic to Columbia with their 60th-anniversary professional socially distant production of Nutcracker.
Executive and Artistic Director, Starrett, has created a performance for this unique holiday season. The production will waltz onto the stage of the Koger Center for the Arts for two weekends and eight performances December 12-13 and December 19-20.
Columbia City Ballet, the largest performing arts organization in South Carolina, is marking its 60th Anniversary season this year, making the company’s Nutcracker the longest continuously running performing arts event produced in South Carolina. In celebration of the 60th anniversary, this year’s performance will be a blend of the classic production with new enchantment and magic.
There will be eight performances at the Koger Center for the Performing Arts, in order to accommodate everyone who wants to be a part of this holiday tradition. There are strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols in place, to protect patrons, dancers, staff, and volunteers. Seating will be socially distanced. Every other row in the theatre will be empty and seating is only in pairs. There will be 3 vacant seats between each pair of occupied seats.
Columbia City Ballet’s 60th-anniversary production will be presented with eight performances between the two weekends of December 12-13 and December 19-20. You can see the production December 12 at 3 pm and 7:30 pm and on December 13 at 1 pm and 5:30 pm at the Koger Center for the Arts. The following weekend performances will be held December 19 at 3 pm and 7:30 pm and December 20 at 1 pm and 5:30 pm at the Koger Center for the Arts. All eight performances will adhere to strict Covid-19 safety guidelines, with social distancing and limited seating. Face masks will also be required.
