Britt Poole has been hired as the new Executive Director for the Central Midlands Council of Governments (CMCOG,) effective July 1.
Poole comes to the agency with 22 years of local government management experience, including serving as Administrator for the Town of Lexington since 2010. During his tenure as Town Administrator, Lexington has been recognized for its outstanding projects like the Icehouse Project and the revitalization and development of Main Street and the downtown area.
In his new position, Poole will facilitate the strategic vision of the COG and oversee all services provided by the agency.
“I am excited and thankful to the Board of CMCOG for selecting me to fill the role of Executive Director. I am eager to work together with all the Midlands of South Carolina to accomplish great things,” said Poole.
“We are thrilled Britt will be joining the Central Midlands COG. Britt is known as one of the most respected local government leaders in South Carolina. His expertise and his leadership abilities will greatly benefit the four counties, the cities and towns; and most importantly, the people of the Central Midlands region” said Foster Senn, CMCOG Board Chairman and Mayor of the City of Newberry.
