The Blythewood High School Orchestra is set to perform on February 22 at 6 pm in the BHS auditorium. This concert, serving as the Pre-CPA concert, is free and open to the public.
The purpose of this event is to showcase the orchestras’ pieces two weeks before their SCMEA Concert Performance Assessment, offering students an opportunity to perform in front of a supportive audience before the main event on March 7.
All three orchestras will be performing, and in addition to their regular pieces, they will undertake a sight-reading session on stage. This involves the conductor and students encountering a new piece they have never seen before, learning and performing it within ten minutes, all without making a sound on their instruments. Three judges will evaluate each orchestra, providing ratings and comments that the performers can use to refine their pieces before the Concert Performance Assessment.
During the concert, Painted Fiddles will be raffled off, with tickets available for purchase in cash at the beginning of the event. The raffle proceeds will contribute to the orchestra’s trip to Nashville in April and support classroom supplies and equipment.
It promises to be an exciting evening of music and a valuable experience for the talented students of the Blythewood High School Orchestra.
