CAYCE, S.C. — Columbia Children’s Theatre invites families across the Midlands to take flight this spring with Peter Pan JR., a musical adventure filled with magic, mischief, and imagination.
Performance Details
Performances will be held at Brookland-Cayce High School (1300 State St.) on the following dates:
- Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, March 28 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- Sunday, March 29 at 3 p.m.
Based on the classic tale by J. M. Barrie, Peter Pan JR. features music by Morris “Moose” Charlap and Jule Styne, with lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green. The production follows Peter, Wendy, and the Darling children on their journey to Neverland, complete with memorable songs, colorful characters, and themes of bravery and friendship.
A Youth-Driven Production
Part of CCT’s YouTheatre program, this PB&J Players production features students in grades 1–6 who have participated in a full theatrical process—from auditions to choreography and performance—under professional direction.
The production also includes collaboration with CCT’s after-school stagecraft class, giving students hands-on experience both onstage and behind the scenes.
“Our PB&J Players go through a real theatrical process: auditions, blocking, choreography—the full experience,” said Artistic Director Jerry Stevenson. “What families will see on stage is the result of weeks of dedicated work by young performers developing real skills.”
“This production is a great example of how our programs work together,” added Director of Operations Sadie Carr. “Students aren’t just performing—they’re learning how a production comes together from the ground up.”
