EASTOVER – A new solar energy project is coming to southeast Richland County. Pontiac Solar LLC has announced plans to invest $112.5 million to build a large-scale solar farm near Pine Thicket Road in Eastover.
The project will include a 75-megawatt installation and is expected to support local environmental and economic development goals.
“Richland County welcomes Pontiac Solar LLC to our community,” said Jesica Mackey, chairwoman of Richland County Council and co-chair of the Columbia Area Development Partnership. “Not only does this project support our sustainability goals, but it also represents an investment in a brighter and more sustainable future for our residents.”
Construction details and timelines are expected to be announced soon. The new solar farm will add to South Carolina’s growing portfolio of renewable energy projects.
