BLYTHEWOOD – The Richland County Recreation Commission officially opened six brand-new pickleball courts at Blythewood Park on July 10, offering residents a fresh and exciting way to stay active.

The courts, located at 126 Boney Road, were created by repurposing old tennis courts. They now feature vinyl-coated fencing and aluminum edging to ensure long-lasting durability and safety for players.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the opening, with several local leaders in attendance, including Richland County Council Vice Chairman Derrek Pugh (District 2), Councilwoman Gretchen D. Barron (District 7), and State Senator Overture E. Walker (District 22).
Pickleball continues to grow in popularity across the country, and these new courts provide a welcome addition to the Blythewood community.
