The enchanting 2023 Christmas Light Boat Parade illuminated Lake Murray on Saturday, December 2, drawing crowds to the brim at the Lake Murray Dam Public Park in Lexington. Spectators eagerly gathered to witness the dazzling display of 20 festively adorned boats, signaling the onset of the holiday season. The Spirit of Lake Murray made a grand inaugural voyage, leading the spectacular parade.

Capital City/Lake Murray Country, the event organizer, extends heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the Christmas Light Boat Parade. Special appreciation goes to the sponsors – Dominion Energy, WhiteWater Landing, and 93.1 The Lake. The event’s success is also attributed to the diligent efforts of the esteemed judges: Jordan Lawrence (Lexington Chronicle), Jamal Goss (WIS), and David Stringer (COLAtoday), who played a crucial role in selecting the top three winning boats.

Now, with much anticipation, the moment arrives to announce the triumphant vessels:

1st Place – $1,000: Gumdrop House by Lorne White

2nd Place – $750: T-Rex pulling Santa by Taylor Bell

3rd Place – $500: Christmas at the Zoo by Nathan Simpson

These creatively adorned boats not only captured the festive spirit but also earned their rightful place as the stars of the 2023 Christmas Light Boat Parade. Congratulations to the winners, and a sincere thank you to all participants for spreading joy and light across Lake Murray during this joyous holiday celebration.
