IRMO, S.C. — Before the okra starts frying and the festivities get underway, multi-platinum country artist Collin Raye will help kick off Okra Strut weekend in Irmo.
Raye will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College. The acoustic performance is being held in conjunction with Irmo’s annual Okra Strut.
Singer-songwriter and local performer Becki McLeod will open the show.
Raye has spent more than three decades connecting with audiences through songs including “Love, Me,” “In This Life,” “Little Rock,” “My Kind of Girl” and “I Can Still Feel You.”
The acoustic format at Harbison Theatre will give audiences an opportunity to hear Raye’s music in an intimate setting, with his voice, songwriting and stories at the center of the performance.
“Okra Strut weekend is such a special time in Irmo, and we love being able to add another experience to everything happening in our community,” said Kristin Cobb, Harbison Theatre executive director. “Collin Raye is an artist whose songs have been part of people’s lives for decades, and hearing those songs acoustically in a theatre as intimate as Harbison is going to make this a really special night.”
The annual Okra Strut is one of Irmo’s signature community events, bringing residents and visitors together for a weekend of food, entertainment and activities. With Harbison Theatre located a short distance from the festival, Raye’s Friday performance offers another entertainment option for those attending the weekend’s festivities.
Less than 50 tickets remain.
Students, seniors age 60 and older and military personnel can receive a $5 discount on Signature Series shows at checkout. Additional savings are available for those who purchase tickets to three or more shows at once.
