The Northeast region will have one fewer Class 5A school beginning this fall.

According to the newly released South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) classification placements for the 2026–28 cycle, Westwood High School will move from Class 5A back to Class 4A. Westwood is the only Northeast-area school affected by the updated enrollment counts.

Schools have until January 7 to submit appeals to the SCHSL Executive Committee. Appeals will be heard January 13–14, with any further review by an appellate panel scheduled for January 15–16 if necessary.

Below is the final SCHSL realignment for Classes 5A and 4A for the 2026–28 cycle, based on enrollment figures.
