Have you gotten your tickets to “A Taste of Lake Murray,” presented by Lexington Medical Center? Enjoy live music from the Finesse Band, Cody Webb and Spencer Rush while sampling specialty dishes from area restaurants at the 2022 Taste of Lake Murray. The annual event will take place on March 31st at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Columbia (2100 Bush River Road, Columbia) at 6 pm.

Monies raised at the event will support the annual July 4th fireworks celebration on Lake Murray, scheduled for Saturday, July 2, 2022. Fireworks will launch from two lake locations: Dreher Island and Spence Island.

In 2021, this event was a qualifying event for the World Food Championship in Dallas, Texas. Five chefs from the region competed in Texas in November and they will also have booths at this year’s Taste of Lake Murray. These chefs are Jon Cooper with Alodia’s Cucina Italiana, Brandon Velie with Juniper, Arif Rizvi with RF’s Grill and Bubba’s Biscuit, John Worthington with Figaro the Dining Room and Kevin Schwab with Bistro on the Boulevard. The plan is to send two chefs from the 2022 Taste of Lake Murray to attend the 2022 World Food Championship.

 

Did you know?

The fireworks for the Annual Fourth of July Celebration became pricey and the Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board did not want to use the organization’s funding to pay for the event. So, for the past 16 years, the organization has been raising the fireworks funds through “A Taste of Lake Murray.” This event, often referred to as the “Social Event of the Year,” has become the event to attend in the region. More than 20 restaurants and vendors operate booths and donate food and beverages for the attendees to enjoy Each year, the event raises more than the last. In 2021, more than $100,000 was raised to make July 4th on Lake Murray bigger and brighter.
