Over the June 9 – 11 weekend, ICRC’s The Storm Track Club participated in the South Carolina USATF Junior Olympics in Mt. Pleasant.

Having come off a season with team championships at the Stan Staggs Invitational and the Greenville Jets Invitational, Storm athletes continued at the SC JO.

Ninety-nine athletes qualified to advance in more than 240 events at the USATF Region 4 Junior Olympic Championships in Jacksonville, Florida the weekend of July 6 – 9. Storm athletes earned 17 Individual State Champions, 11 Relay State Championships, including setting two state records, 25 Individual State Runner-Ups and six Relay State Runner-Ups.

Individual State Champions include 8 and Under’s Emma Harrell (1500m), 9-10’s Taylor Washington (800m), Steven Hill (SP); 11-12’s Munirah Gordon (1500m), Abigail White (800m) and Benton Terry (80MH); 13-14’s Lauren Devaney (800m & 1500m) and Maurice McQuire (400m); 15-16’s Olivia Downs (SP & Discus), Mallory Haney (400m) and Kayln Cook (LJ); and 17-18’s Maryah Nasir (800m & 1500m), DJ Ledell (TJ) and Dallas Wise (HJ).

Individual State Runner-Ups representing The Storm Track Club are 8 and Under’s Bella Bonavilla (1500m), Emma Harrell (800m) and Lauren Edwards (100m); 9-10’s Alana Armstrong (SP), Taylor Washington (400m) and Nathan Perricelli (LJ); 11-12’s Abigail White (1500m), Maliya Kinard (200m), Phiasia Jones (400m), Ariel Castleberry (100m) and Seth Shealy (800); 13-14’s Bella Martin (LJ), Haven Lynn (Discus); Saniyah Myers (SP), Lauren Devaney (3000m), Kendrick Mitchell (100m), and Jovan Tirado (800m); 15-16’s India Wright (SP & Discus), Olivia Downs (Javelin), Mia Perry (1500m), Mallory Haney (100m); and 17-18’s Taiy’e Holmes (LJ), DJ Ledell (LJ), DeAngelo Jacobs (100m), Darius Weathers (TJ) and McCallum Senn (800m, 1500m & 3000m).

Two of the 11 champion relay teams set state records – the 11-12’s Girls 4x100m team of Ariel Castleberry, Nya Singletary, Shannon Wright and Maliya Kinard with a time of 52.91 seconds and the 11-12’s Boys 4×800 team of Gavin Tirado, Carmine Keene, Max Hagood and Seth Shealy with a time 10:57.88. Other Storm relay teams earning State Championships are 9-10’s Girls 4×400 team of Azaria Myers, Taylor Monroe, Chaniya Burton and Alana Armstrong; 11-12’s Girls 4×400 team of Elise Elliot, Hailey Duncan, Munirah Gordon and Kayla Gordon; the 11-12’s Girls 4×800 of Munirah Gordon, Madeline Gomez, Abigail Gopp and Abigail White; 13-14’s Girls 4×100 team of Chandler Huntly, Bella Martin, Paris Nelson, and Kayla Bryant; 13-14’s Girls 4×400 team of Khamiyah Smalls, Kayla Bryant, Leighla Washington and Paris Nelson; 13-14’s Boys 4×100 team of Maurice McQuire, Jaden Kinard, Braxton Lodge and Kendrick Mitchell; 13-14’s Boys 4×800 team of Saint Hadwin, Michael Perry, Julien Tirado and Jovan Tirado; 17-18’s Girls 4×400 of JerNasia Coleman, Taiy’e Holmes, Jasmyn Washington and Jerrica Covington; 17-18’s Boys 4×400 team of Darius Weathers, Dakya McKnight, Aaron Rountree and DJ Ledell.

Storm State Runner-Up relay teams include 9-10’s 4×400 team of Jamar Grissett, Nathan Perricelli, John Michael Terry and Phillip Jones Jr.; 11-12’s 4×100 Boys Trenton Lodge, Max Hagood, Ishun Yon and Daniel Colburn; 15-16’s Boys 4×100 of Kyle Lober, Kalyn Cook, Jesjiah Stevenson and Bruce Staley Jr.; 15-16’s Boys 4×400 Kalyn Cook, William King, Jesjiah Stevenson and Kyle Lober; 17-18’s Girls 4×100 team of JerNasia Coleman, Jerrica Covington, Jasmyn Washington and Taiy’e Holmes; and 17-18’s Boys 4×100 team of Darius Weathers, Aaron Rountree, Alan Alvarez Jr. and DeAngelo Jacobs Jr.
