Spring Valley forward Laura Crosland ended her high school basketball career on a winning note Saturday at Brookland-Cayce High School.

She scored nine points for the South in the 88-71 win over the North in the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association’s All-Star Classic.

The South led as many as 20 points in the contest.

Ciara Mustapher of Stratford led the South with 14 points. White Knoll guard Shaelyn Hayes had 13 points to earn team MVP honors.

Hayes was one of four South players to finish in double figures. Ella Mae Schapp of Oceanside Collegiate had 11 points and Dream Watson of Military Magnet finished with 10 points.

Helping to keep the North within striking distance where MVP Zoe Young of Laurens had a game-high 18 points and Destinee Tiller added 10 points.

The boys game saw the North prevail 94-83 over the South. After Brookland-Cayce forward A.J. Edwards hit a 3-pointer to open the game, the North surged ahead with a 22-5 run to take the lead the rest of the game.

Brock Cherry of Wren finished with 15 points to earn North MVP honors. Roman Cooley of Greenville and Tyrek Wright of McBee each had 11 points and R.J. Hill of South Pointe finished with 10 points.

Malachi Cooper of Class 5A Division I champion Ridge View had six points for the South.
