Our beloved Silver Lining Club is a game-changer in supporting caregivers here in SC. We created this respite program for our caregivers to get a 4-hour break each Wednesday to help prevent burnout and to encourage self-care. Not only did Silver Lining Club assist in supporting our caregivers but it ended up being so much more for the participants.

They come every week and are greeted with respect, dignity and love. Every one of our staff and volunteers have a true heart for being there and you can feel the warmth when you walk in the door. Each week we include physical movement to maintain executive functioning, cognitive activities to stimulate our brains, visual cues and active listening skills, and therapeutic activities to engage all 5 senses.

We utilize a person-centered approach and strive to meet our participants where they are. Every week we are more joyful and fulfilled than when we got there. We are so proud of the Silver Lining Club, what it has become and the positive affect it’s making on caregivers and participants.

“Once I started volunteering, I realized how much I love being there – and how I’ve grown to love all the people there. It is quite an amazing environment. To be part of the level of love and respect and care for these folks renews my faith in humanity – and it keeps me from dwelling on things that sometimes get under your skin as you age…like losing friends, sickness, etc.” says a Happy Volunteer of SLC
