George Rogers Foundation raises funds for first generation college students

The George Rogers Foundation Gala and Golf Tournament was held June 23 and 24.

The foundation was created with a mission to give financial aid to first generation college students. Rogers, a first generation college graduate, wanted to provide the same opportunity for others in South Carolina.

The foundation has supported local youth organizations and provided scholarships to former University of South Carolina athletes. In the past six years the foundation has given more than $250,000 to students and the community and is working to double financial assistance over the next five. The gala was held at the USC Alumni Center and the golf tournament was held at Fort Jackson Golf Club the following day.
