Defending SCISA Class 4A wrestling champion Cardinal Newman opened the new year participating in the Prep Slam XVII in Atlanta, Ga.
The tournament featured over 47 teams from 13 different states taking part in the 2-day event. Jack Laird, Jason Wagner and Cooper Smythe all posted two victories.
In public school rankings, Blythewood is the lone Northeast school in the boys and girls polls.
