Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher is releasing the preliminary results of the autopsy of Jillian Hope Olson, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Deputy who died in the line of duty while diving on Lake Murray July 30.

A forensic autopsy was performed at the Medical University of Charleston August 3 at 8:30 am and the results of that autopsy concluded that the cause of death for Miss Olson was determined to be fresh water drowning.

The circumstances that led to the death of Miss Olson remain under the investigation of the Department of Natural Resources, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, as well as the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
